The QA Commons is mindful of the dramatic and transformational impact COVID-19 is having on all institutions of higher education. As an organization, we are adapting our services to support preparing graduates for the workplace that is now changing more precipitously than ever.
We at the QA Commons are deeply concerned, not only by the events this past week but by the persistent injustices that have led us to this moment. We are keenly aware of the systemic racial inequities that exist in education and in the workplace. We also understand that many of the factors contributing to unequal treatment and opportunity are so ingrained in our systems that even the most educated fail to recognize them.
The QA Commons recognizes the contradictions between the ideals of democratic education and the persistent inequalities in academic outcomes. We strive to resolve that contradiction through focused attention to the diversity and success of all enrolled students and their preparation for effective participation in a workforce that values equity.
This is a painful time for our nation and our communities. We join you in reflecting on recent events and how to enact real change. We at the QA Commons support transparency in academic programming that helps foster a culture of respect for all persons.
