The QA Commons is mindful of the dramatic and transformational impact COVID-19 is having on all institutions of higher education. As an organization, we are adapting our services to support preparing graduates for the workplace that is now changing more precipitously than ever.
The QA Commons’ work with the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities has been featured in an op-ed appearing in Diverse Issues in Higher Education. In this piece, Jane Gates, Interim President of the CSCU system, discusses higher education’s responsibility to work toward bridging the gap between white and minority groups’ employment rates as well as how their work with the QA Commons is integral in achieving it. Through use of an Employability Self-Assessment, programs are engaged in a process that brings together faculty, employers, career services, and institutional research with the goal of improving completion and ensuring students find meaningful employment.
