The QA Commons is mindful of the dramatic and transformational impact COVID-19 is having on all institutions of higher education. As an organization, we are adapting our services to support preparing graduates for the workplace that is now changing more precipitously than ever.
QA Commons is excited to announce the launch of its new Employability Exploration, providing programs of study the opportunity to engage instructors, advisors, and staff in identifying strengths and gaps in delivering employability skills.
Benefits of the “Exploration” are:
The exercise provides a starting point for programs and instructors as they begin to consider the topic of employability for their students. While the process and resultant reports are powerful, the process is quick, easy, and inexpensive.
Easy-to-read, graphical reports for each participating program are presented, along with a guided discussion format with which to engage in collaborative discussions around the results. QA Commons suggests institutions put forth a cohort of programs that can engage in a community of learning, with onboarding webinars and a summary report provided to the institution to help inform additional professional development and initiatives to enhance employability. The initial survey takes 30 minutes. 90 minutes is recommended for the guided discussions (which can be led by QA Commons as an add-on engagement).
According to LinkedIn, “In today’s world of software engineering and ever-more technology, it’s soft skills that employers want. 91% of companies cited this as an issue and 80% of companies are struggling to find better soft skills in the market.”
QA Commons is uniquely positioned to ensure all learners are prepared for the changing dynamics of the workforce and economy. Its services have become key elements in helping colleges, universities, state-wide educational systems, and workforce development agencies to expand and enhance their career readiness programs and services.
